the area and looking back into the woods the way they had come.
"Okay, I guess we have enough room. Come on in gent
and bring your boys."
"Alright you guys step inside and take your boots off."
"I suppose introductions are in order, I'm Kenneth. My
wife who'll you meet in a minute is Linda. She'll be brining
in tea. Always does."
"That's very gracious of you Kenneth. <He talked
to the guys behind him.> Take your armour off, we don't
want to wreck these nice people's furniture."
"That's alright."
"No sir, it's the least we can do." Max told him starting
to unbuckle his armour. "My name is Maxwell Sterling.
The bulgy statue of a man is Rad. The little guy is
R.C. Then there's Chris who's taken his breather off for
the first time since I can remember. And the last fellow is
Archer. We're part of a mercenary group."
Max stepped sock-footed into the living room of the house.
There was a bunch of furniture, some of it in excellent
condition, some of it pretty ratty. The carpet was a dark
beige colour and had lines and marks all over as if it had just
been vacuumed. Kenneth told him, "We get all sort of types."
Behind him a woman of about the same age appeared in the
doorway. She was tall and thin compared to the man who was
on the short side and heavy in the chest and the stomach.
